Our choir, Mudita, currently comprises nine ABC members with a repertoire of mantras and Dharma melodies. Making their first appearance in July 2014, the Mudita choir was formed with the goal of spreading the sacred sounds of Dharma through music. Mudita, which is Sanskrit for “joy”, has produced one CD album to-date, which was launched during ABC’s 25th anniversary celebration in November 2014. The album, “Sacred Springs – Rhythms of Joy”, which featured seven original soundtracks, has sold out.
The choir has given performances at our annual Vesak Celebration and brought cheer to patients at nursing homes. They have also offered their music at long life pujas and other special celebrations held for Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Khen Rinpoche Geshe Chonyi. With an expanding song list that now includes Chinese lyrics, Mudita has also been invited to perform at events hosted by other Buddhist centres.
Mudita is open to welcoming new musical talents into their group. Those who are musically inclined and enjoy performing for community gatherings can contact Mudita at ABC.Mudita@gmail.com or at www.facebook.com/abcmudita
