Pilgrimage

Prostrating at the very seat where the Buddha attained enlightenment 2,500 years ago in Bodhgaya. Circumambulating the holy stupas of Boudanath and Swayambunath in Kathmandu. Retracing the footsteps of the Dalai Lamas at the Potala Palace in Lhasa. These are just some of the inspiring experiences to look forward to while on pilgrimage at sacred Buddhist sites in India, Nepal or Tibet.

Besides their historical significance, being in places where the Buddha lived and taught, where powerful holy objects reside, or where spiritual masters attained high levels of spiritual realisations is a quick way to accumulate merit. When prayers and offerings are made at these places, there is the added benefit for greater blessings to be received.

The special advantage is that just by their existence these holy objects make it easy for us ordinary living beings to create merit.
